So, I know I live in Southern California, and the weather’s going to get unbearably scorching hot really soon, but I want this. Hell, I need it — I need anything burger to keep up my identity as Burgerfoot. [If you still don't know why that's my handle, too bad...] Alas, it’s 32 Euro, and that’s way more than I can allow myself to afford. So I’ll be crying in a dark corner of my room for the next ten seconds and then write a song about it.
Also, I’ve been quite disturbingly obsessed with watching 90s MTV sketch comedy show The State since I finally got a chance. Everyone’s been telling me to watch it for years — It’s so you, yadda yadda. But seriously, though — Yeah. Totally me. If you get a chance, I highly suggest it — especially if you have Netflix because the whole series is streaming instantly. So fucking brilliant.
Simply put, if you love silly, you’ll love this show.
I’m a few episodes from completing the series, which is kind of a bummer. Pretty lame how late I am to this, but it’s so awesome seeing everything for the first time. It just gets better and better. AwwwwwwYeeeeeeaaaahhhh.
I must say, I’ve been totally inspired — I’m going to start an online episodic series with some friends. Already have some material ready to shoot, and some ideas a-bubblin’…
The State is how everyone got their start. I don’t want to say too much about the show because I’d probably sound like a fangirl, but my suggestion is to look into their collective and individual projects — Wet Hot American Summer, The Baxter, Role Models, Stella and Reno 911, to name a few.
I’m just glad I met Tom and Ben before I was exposed to this show, because I would have been a total babbling idiot fanbitch. [I'll impart context for this instance sometime in the future... maybe]
Also — I rented The Ten via Netflix (written by David Wain and Ken Marino) and watched it yesterday, twice. I first watched it at home, and then later brought it to Myly and Alex where they worked because I knew they’d dig. They absolutely loved how quirky it was. It’s so, so good. And the perfect flick to watch while you’re waiting for your friends to get off work at the porn shop.
By the way, I woke up drunk this morning. God, Sailor Jerry. You got me. You got me gooood. Last night we hit up some tiny party in Venice just walking distance from the ocean. My calves hurt from running around on the beach nonstop. It just felt so good! Ahhh, waves! Weeee! I’ll get pictures up whenever I get them from Mylar, which will probably be in a few months… or NEVER.
